Our Story
The Past
The inception of Long Beach Islamic Center (LBIC) was in 2003. Sheikh Tariq Mohammed, an imam and community activist, led the effort to build a mosque for the Long Beach community. Previously a car repair shop, the community worked hard together to turn it into the beautiful mosque it is today.

The Present
By Allah (SWT) and his will, the LBIC mosque was built and opened to the Long Beach community in 2015. Despite its modest size, with a maximum capacity of 150 people, the mosque provides Juma’a prayer and sermons, Quran and Arabic classes for the youth, muslim family nights, and homemade meals for muslims and non-muslims alike.

The Future
We are raising funds to acquire the adjacent land to expand the mosque. This expansion would establish the first Qur’an school in the city of Long Beach to be accredited by Al-Azhar to teach Arabic, Qur’an, and I’ijaz to the muslim community of Southern California.
